Veteran Services
We are honored to assist veterans and their families with funeral, cremation, burial, and memorial benefits available through the Department of Veterans Affairs.
-
At Sunset Memorial, we are honored to assist veterans and their families in arranging meaningful funeral, cremation, and memorial services while helping navigate available Veterans Affairs (VA) benefits.
Our team can help guide families through the process and provide information regarding burial benefits, memorial items, and cemetery options.
-
Eligible veterans may qualify for benefits that help cover:
Burial and funeral expenses
Transportation of remains
Burial or interment allowances
Government-issued headstones and markers
Memorial benefits and military honors
For veterans being buried in a National Cemetery, additional benefits may be available.
-
Families generally must file a claim for a non-service-connected burial allowance within two years of the veteran's burial or cremation.
There is no time limit for filing service-connected burial, plot, or interment allowances.
-
The Department of Veterans Affairs may provide a government-issued headstone, grave marker, or niche marker for eligible veterans at no cost.
The VA may also provide headstones for previously unmarked graves of eligible veterans.
-
Please note that the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Boulder City, Nevada is operated by the State of Nevada and is not a federally operated National Cemetery.
